A place to nurture and enable the all-round development of the modern-day woman.
Every time you attend any of our sessions, you are lending your voice to a cause larger than yourself; that demonstrates your authentic championship and culminates in the improvement of women's lives and futures in our city and ultimately, beyond.
Our Woman and The Society sessions (#WatsSessions) are a pivotal part of what we do at WTAL; it allows us apply a resolute female-specific lens in our examination of the myriad ways that society complexifies our advancement. It spotlights thought-provoking dialogue on the existential challenges, opportunities, and triumphs that women encounter and/or accomplish in (their ascension to) leadership roles. These sessions provide a platform for accomplished women at various levels of leadership from diverse industries, to deliver lectures, talks/debates, and discussions around social issues confronting women in our society. While the anticipated outcome is that women seeking empowerment can listen, engage with and connect with those who have succeeded, we are providing an additional platform where these women can pay forward, the easement, championship, and fortification they have received in their ascension to leadership.
At WTAL, we understand that women are confronted with unique challenges in their endeavors across the society and may not have access to the resources they need to overcome. Hence, our #WatsSessions, which was created as one of our solutions to ensuring that we bring our large community of women together; those who have achieved success on various/multiple fronts, with those who are seeking empowerment, that need to see women like themselves starting out, building/growing and at the helm of diverse enterprises, those who want to learn from experience, that need success secrets from specific industries, and those pursuing the discovery of passion/purpose. These sessions are pivotal to WTAL; we painstakingly identify and invite esteemed, dynamic, and accomplished women speakers (that are representative of the heterogeneity of our society) to lecture and engage in panel discussions and with the audience on set themes through a gender-specific lens.
At WTAL, we have been extremely fortunate to have some exceptional women grace our stage. Some of our speaking alumnae have gone the extra mile to maintain communications with seminar attendees, become advisors in business, career, and employability, and consent to commencing mentor-mentee relationships, amongst other things. While WTAL may have provided a platform, without the generosity of the women leaders in our city, we are doubtful that it would have made the impact that it has. Since commencing operations, we have received hundreds of testimonials from women (and men) who are unreserved about how meaningful our sessions have been to them. Recurring comments echo the uniqueness of our seminars in its ability to spotlight a wide range of issues, the practicality of the lessons delivered by the speakers and life-changing effect on the mindset of attendees. At WTAL, we pride ourselves with truly being able to deliver knowledge that every attendee can take something from.
We give our attendees the opportunity to be involved in the process around determining monthly themes. The themes of all the conversations are derived from surveys collected within our society's significant community of women. Every woman interested in being part of highlighting societal challenges and the dialogue towards change is encouraged to complete our survey as it guides the themes of our events. This initiative underscores WTAL’s commitment to community inclusivity and representation.
We take pride in being socially driven, socially led, and socially resolved.
The result of this is that we are building a community that is invested in contributing to the process and so is taking the time to pay attention to the needs of the community in order to put forward REAL themes. Women are becoming more aware and more interested in participating in the conversations that constitute the bedrock for societal improvement.
We are so honored that we can give back to the city that has given us so much.
#WatsSessions is a product of our Social Lab, which via its efforts, societal challenges are investigated and efforts towards resolution is initiated and/or amplified.
