"We are building a bridge between the female community and ultimately, the Canadian government so that the cities/nation that we cherish and want to be a party to shaping can provide us the enabling environment we need to meaningfully contribute."

Dr. Chika Daniels, President of WTAL Canada.

about WTAL Canada

Are you contemplating joining the WTAL community and if joining serves you in anyway?

WTAL is a non-partisan women-centered non-profit organization that is positioning itself as a connector between the female community and the resources required to thrive in the Calgarian and Canadian society. Most importantly, through our Social Lab, we are identifying and tackling the challenges confronting women, and developing initiatives that build a bridge between where we are now; a nation that encumbers the advancement, empowerment and representation of women, and where we NEED to be - a nation that is genuinely equitable.

For too long, women have neither been welcomed to the table nor been free to speak openly. Women-related issues have also never been prioritized. The impact of generations of this paradigm has resulted in women suppressing themselves, seldom speaking up and becoming comfortable in the background resulting in the majority of women never fully realizing the fullness of their potential.

WTAL seeks to change this. WTAL is joining  forces with organizations that have been instituted to expose women to the myriad possibilities of their potential, but also provide a platform where women: I) recognize that their welfare is front and centre, II) are confident that their voice irrespective of ethnicity is as important as their counterparts, and III) are cognizant that our efforts to recommend revisions to policy, adequately capture their voices in a manner that ensures they feel reasonably (and possibly, satisfactorily) represented.

Our end goal is to shape a generation of women who are not afraid to speak up, be in control/take leadership positions, pursue ambition, compete in any setting - equally, and thrive across all obligations, but in an environment that offers everyone a fair chance for success. WTAL is equipping and empowering women to obtain the best for themselves and also, pay it forward - continue the pattern of ensuring that we are contributing our quota in setting women around us on the right trajectory.

Are you interested in learning more about WTAL?

Impact so far

In the short time WTAL has been in operation, it has convened increasingly meaningful events that continually resonates with the needs of the diverse communities of women, on whose behalf we are advocating. In its first 3-day convention, in September 2022, WTAL assembled an in-person participant group of just under 200 people and an online viewing in excess of 4,000 people. At least, every quarter, WTAL hosts an event that has consistently drawn a minimum of 200 attendees. Every month, the attendance at its sessions grows, and the impact it has on our community has been instrumental in expanding the numbers. Testimonials from attendees continue to attract the largest portion of new participants.

Plans for the future

We anticipate that WTAL will continue to boast an increasingly robust catalogue of women who can draw a parallel between their current success to (one or more of) WTALs effort. We expect that WTAL would achieve notability; as one of the foremost organizations genuinely working towards creating a society that enables women and female representation and empowerment.
